Here's my new sketch of Tommy Vercetti, this was some training in perspective which I think I might have failed haha! I'd love to get some feedback on how it looks and if I got the angles right.. The way I see it.. I think the perspective of the characters might be fine but the background kind of goes the wrong way.. Not sure. Maybe I'm being fussy, but let me know
TOMMY'S THE MAN! And we've got Mercedes right next to him, and the good old Infernus behind Damn I hope Rockstar re-make Vice, that would own my life
Hey dude there isn't a huge amount wrong with the perspective so I will just point out about the main things I noticed, the car, gun and torso area of Tommy. I did a bit of a trace to see where the vp is, but I couldn't find a clear vp at all. things seem to be pointing anywhere from Tommy's jaw/upper neck area to as far down as the top of the gun butt. The worse offender is the bottom edge of the car, behind the wheel. I think this angle should be much steeper. The building and the trees give this very epic perspective (like that of a camera with a 10mm focal length), but then you have things like the car and the gun which have little of this extremeness. The car looks like its parked parallel to the curb outside the building. So in this case I think there should be more perspective on this. The gun needs far more. As one person mentioned, Tommy's torso seems a little front on. I agree. If he is a little more side on, it could be easier to make the perspective of the gun work. Try making the tip of the barrel larger and make the size of the butt a little smaller. It needs to have a bit of a perspective wedge look about it if you understand what I mean. With this extreme perspective you have and the characters being close to the camera, I would say the whole left side of Tommy (from his hips up) including the gun needs to be smaller.
I love it, the perspective is fine. It is a little off but in a way that just puts loads of focus on Tommy, it looks deliberate, kinda fish eye you know? But yeah, I've always thought that the science behind a picture doesn't matter at all as long as it looks cool. That's the point. I dunno if I'd want a remake of VC but I'd love to go back, As a different character but maybe you could get missions from Tommy Vercetti. Vice City was my favourite GTA game.
Hope this helps,
Ben
